PRIVACY STATEMENT
Calgary Foothills Soccer Club (the "Club") recognizes the importance of maintaining the privacy of its members, players and volunteers. We are committed to safeguarding the personal information the Club receives and controls concerning any individual.
Privacy Rights
The Club manages your personal information in compliance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act ("PIPA") and will comply as required with the federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPDEA").
Why we collect personal information
We collect personal information to identify you, register you in soccer leagues, tournaments or clinics, maintain a current list of volunteers and meet our commitments to insurers.
What personal information do we collect?
Personal information is any information that identifies you. Contact information such as your home and office address, home and business telephone number, email address, fax number or other related contact information is considered personal information.
We may share your personal information with other parties but only in the following circumstances:
- in order to administer the services the Club provides to you, we may share information with organizations such as data storage providers or companies that provide insurance or registration services;
- we may share information with other teams you play with;
- we may disclose incidents to authorities;
- take disciplinary actions resulting from incidents;
- comply with legal and insurance requirements;
- provide referee coordinators with names of possible referees;
- register you with the Alberta Soccer Association for provincial tournaments;
- use of the information is necessary to respond to an emergency that threatens the life, health or security of an individual or the public.
We do not disclose or sell your personal information to any third party to enable them to market their products and services.
Consent
- The Club will obtain your consent to collect, use and disclose personal information in accordance with its Privacy Statement except where otherwise permitted or required by law.
- If you volunteer to provide relevant personal information, i.e. at registration, we assume that you are consenting to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described herein.
- When you initiate contact with us, we may determine that consent has been implied for us to collect, use and disclose personal information in a reasonable manner.
- A parent and/or guardian will be required to provide consent on behalf of a minor.
- You may withdraw your consent to the Club for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and subject always to reasonable notice. If you withdraw your consent, the implications of that withdrawal may be that the Club is not able to provide or to continue to provide you with the services you have requested. In addition, the Club's ability to communicate with you may be diminished. In order to withdraw consent, you must contact our offices and identify in writing which personal information you no longer wish to be collected or maintained.
Accuracy of Your Information
You have the right to request a correction of the personal information that the Club holds on its files about you. The Club relies on you to provide us with accurate and up to date contact information for the purpose of providing you with its services and to maintain contact with you. If any of your information changes, please inform the Club so that it can make any necessary changes.
Protecting Your Personal Information
The Club will endeavour to maintain and safeguard personal information using methods appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
Accessing Your Personal Information
You may request access to the personal information the Club has about you. The request must be in writing and directed to the attention of the Club’s Privacy Officer. We will charge a reasonable fee for retrieval and copying of your personal information. If the retrieval or copying of your request is extensive, we will notify you of the fee prior to retrieval and copying.
There may be instances where the personal information may not be disclosed. These would include situations where the personal information includes references to other persons, the information has already been destroyed due to legal requirements or because it is no longer needed and where the Club is entitled to deny access by applicable law and regulations.
Communications by Email
Email may not be a secure, confidential method of communicating your confidential and personal information with the Club. The Club may use email to send personal and confidential information unless you expressly direct us not to use this form of communication.
Changes to this Privacy Statement
We may review and change our Privacy Statement from time to time in order to update the Club's privacy commitment to you in keeping with current privacy laws.
