I would like to thank the Calgary Foothills Soccer Association for
their generous donation of soccer balls to the Journey to Uganda cause.
The school didn't have any soccer balls and the children made them from

very excited about the soccer balls you were able to provide. Click on the pictures below to see the full-size images. |

| FOOTHILLS COLTS WIN GOLD!!!! | Updated OCTOBER 14th, 2007 |
|
Congratulations to the Foothills Colts G16 team who defeated London City Supernova by a 3-2 margin in extra-time to win the CSA National U16 Championship. Carmen Blume scored her second goal of the game with only five minutes to play in the second period of extra time to bring home the Adidas Cup U16 National Championship trophy. Blume opened the scoring early in the first half but London rushed back to tie the game before half time. Katie Collar scored midway through second half on a header from a well taken corner kick from Sarah Paul. London City tied the game in the 86th minute and the match moved to extra time. Foothills created several great scoring opportunities during the extra frames and defended well inside their own penalty area before Blume hit a low hard shot from the top of the penalty area to seal the win. Foothills goalkeeper Courtney Merklewas co-winner of the tournament's top goalkeeper award. The win caps an undefeated season for the Colts. Congratulations to the players, coaches, managers and parents. | |

The CIS crowned the University of Alberta as National Champions with the Golden Bears 1-0 win over rivals Trinity Western University. Calgary Foothills is proud to have many recent graduates of our program participate at the CIS level with great success this year. Foothill product Justin Farenik won the National Championship Tournament MVP award as he and former Foothills teammate Pat Kelly battled the Golden Bears in the final. Cole McFarlane and Jeff Hagen are out west with UVIC and Cole was named a First Team All Canadian this season while Paul Hamilton was named an Atlantic All Star and Atlantic Rookie of the Year while representing the University of Cape Breton out east; also out east are Thomas Bradley and Ross Hagen at Dalhousie. Thomas had his season cut short with a sever injury and we are hoping for a full recovery and look forward to seeing Thomas soon. Foothills graduates Dylan Tooby, Justin Tse and Steven Brown are calling Lethbridge home while the U of C Dino’s boast a roster deep in Foothills roots with recent additions Josh Weinberger, Fernando Di Capua, Dorian Nobee, Paul Oppenheim joining Sean Makins, Tanmeet Singh, Kit Shepetys, Matt Reid and Brian Delaney as being some of the newest Foothills graduates at an already veteran U of C program with many more Foothills graduates from years past still in the Dino program. Colby Sawatsky has headed west to Trinity Western and Justin Tawtel had a great season at Mt Royal locally. The Mt Royal team also boasts some Foothills products in Tanner Farenik, Flemming Krogh and Brandon Podorieszach. Well done to all, we're proud of all our athletes. |
