Foothills follows a European based philosophy of soccer that is holistic in nature. It is much more than just a weekly Academy session and focuses on the player, coach, and team. This is crucial to player development and success.

Foothills consistently produces top players and top teams and here is how:

Weekly Academy - Foothills offers a weekly Academy as a basic part of the Foothills Centre of Excellence (U14 and above) and the Skills Academy (U10 and U12). The Foothills distinction is that our Academy is run by technical directors that are UEFA B certified (European standard), and have played and/or taught professionally in European Academies. Our trainers are accredited and played at the provincial and even National level.

Coaches Training Program - The team coach is integral to a team's success and enjoyment. Foothills has Calgary's top coaching roster with coaches with decades of experience and a proven track record of results. This strong line-up of coaches is due to the 15 hours or more of coaches training every season. The training materials are from our technical curriculum which is proven to get results.

Small Sided Games - A big part of the Foothills philosophy is to let the game be the teacher. The Foothills program includes small sided game intra club tournaments at various times throughout the year and also a winter Futsal league with games every Friday night. Trades Academy - The skills, tactics and training differ based on the position they play. Foothills offers Trades Academy which focuses on the needs of each position. This provides the player with individualized position specific training to make them more effective at their role. This is offered free of charge throughout the spring/summer and periodically during the winter program.

Game Analysis and coach mentoring - Our technical directors attend games throughout the season and evaluate the team tactics and skills. The coach is then provided team specific feedback and general observations are used to refine and optimize the technical curriculum.
